Meet Our Staff

Helen Carlson

Owner & Head Trainer

Helen Carlson is the owner and founder of Good Dog Paws. She started her dog training journey when she was 12 years old. She’s also heavily involved with Nolan-Carlson Canine LLC, which includes Agility by Carlson, her husband’s business that sells dog training equipment.

Helen’s experience includes competition obedience and agility training, owning her own kennel, and running a doggie daycare and training facility. Her favorite part about being a dog trainer is discovering what dogs can do and seeing dog owners and their furry best friends working together in harmony.

Helen favors a quiet training style and that combines both fun and focus when handling dogs. Along with Good Dog Paw’s highly qualified and experienced trainers, she works with owners to rehabilitate or train dogs to overcome their fears, lack of confidence, or undesirable behaviors.Along with everyone at Good Dog Paws, Helen believes that building strong communication and respect between owners and their dogs is the first step to a healthy and fulfilling relationship.

Kami Emerick

Lead Trainer

Kami Emerick is an accomplished dog trainer at Good Dog Paws. Having grown up working with animals from a very young age, she has a few years of experience as a pharmacy technician under her belt, but her compassion for dogs set her on the dog training path when she first acquired a genetically-unstable puppy.

Through that experience of learning how to manage its quirks to visiting local shelters to study other dogs’ behavior, Kami’s relentless drive to ensure the best care for canines is second to none. From there, it was an easy leap from studying breed characteristics to all-out dog training through the numerous training seminars she’s attended.

With over 6 years of dog training experience, Kami can and has successfully handled all sorts of dogs. Her passion, however, shines the most when she trains service dogs. She loves being able to help handlers build a strong, lifetime relationship with their dogs–especially those that really need them.

Heide Hade

Canine Care Specialist

Heidi has worked at Good Dog Paws as a kennel technician since May of 2019. She also works part-time as a pet sitter/dog walker and she volunteers once a week at a local shelter. She has been with the company almost every single day for two and a half years. She loves dogs with a zest for life, like they just they don't have a care in the world except playing and having fun.

A lot of the time, dogs make Heidi happy when they’re just running around being silly. She likes to help them relax. What she likes to do is play some music for them, which helps. Heidi is partial to Chocolate Labs. She also has a Border Collie-Golden Retriever mix.

Angie Harris

Office Assistant

I started at Good Dog April 10,2023. I am a navy veteran air traffic controller who went into work after the military helping to train FAA air traffic controllers.

Once I decided to transition from a full time career I was thrilled to join the team at Good Dog doing what I love, caring for dogs. My newest addition at home is Honey, a golden retriever that was born to do good work. Her and I are training to become a Therapy Dog Team so that we’ll be able to volunteer in our community bringing some joy and comfort to others.
